Warning: I am going to be totally stupid with these answers, I don't have the energy to be serious =)

My happy place... Magic Mike on the tv screen, sweat pants on my legs, oreo cookies in one hand and a nice, cold glass of milk in the other and no husband or children to be found!

Whatever happened to...Sally Jesse Raphael and those sweet red glasses??
Yep, still looks like a man, with sweet red glasses!

So what if I....have no fashion sense and could give two shits what is "in" at the moment.

E! needs a reality show about... someone interesting, they haven't done that before!!

My go-to fast food meal is...a fat Doner Kebob from the Gyro Company - don't know what a Doner Kebab is, then you haven't lived.

You might not know that I... spend about 80% of my day pinning and printing recipes that I NEVER end up cooking ... waste. of. time.

The hottest quarterback in the NFL is... unless Channing Tatum is now a quarterback then I could give a rat's butt =)

If I could....

My personality is awesome because...I am a people pleaser, it's a curse, I can't stop and I won't stop ...

Twerking is....so old news - Whistle While You Twurk?? anyone??

I think it's super gross when...people pick any part of their body and then put said picking in their mouth, I will literally throw up on their feet!
Yep, I just threw up in my mouth!

Someone needs to tell Miley Cyrus....squats do a booty good!

I'm Walkin' On Sunshine ...

Tired of these Sunshine Awards yet?!? ha ha ... too bad, here is another one!

One of my favorite Bloggin' ladies nominated me for the Sunshine Award. If you haven't read Erin's blog yet, then you need to go check it out. She is one of the sweetest ladies I have ever "met" and I know if we lived closer to each other we would be life long buds!

Here are the rules if you get nominated:
1. Include award logo in a post or on your blog (above).
2. Link to the person who nominated you
3. Answer 10 questions about yourself and write 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
4. Nominate 10 bloggers to receive the award. Link your nominees to the post and comment on their blogs letting them know they’ve been nominated.

Here are my questions from Erin:
  1. What makes you happy?  A yummy dessert?  A butterfly flying by?  Finishing a good book? What makes me most happy is lazy Sunday afternoons when we have no plans and we just hang around the house watching movies or playing games with the boys - just relaxing family time, I can never get enough of that!!
  2. What song makes you sing your heart out every time you hear it on the radio? HMMM, I do this a lot, right now it is probably Katy Perry's Roar - my 3 yr old loves it too, so when it comes on he says - Turn it up mom! - and we both jam out =)
  3. Do you have a full set of teeth or did you have to have some pulled as a kid? I've got them all but one wisdom tooth that broke and had to be pulled.
  4. What’s your favorite Tootsie Pop flavor? Red!!
  5. Would you rather go a year without shaving your legs or your armpits? I could NOT go a year without shaving my armpits - I shave them every single day!! Ain't no body got time for that nastiness - I really think men should have to shave them too, it's just not a good place to have hair!! ha ha ha
  6. What is your favorite kind of dressing for your salad? I like a good balsamic vinegarette, if I am at a restaurant and they have a "house" dressing, I usually get that. Imo's is probably my favorite house dressing.
  7. What is your favorite app on your phone (or website if you don’t have a smartphone) BESIDES those social media ones (i.e. Facebook, IG, Twitter)? Wow I am so lame, I don't have a lot of apps on my phone pretty much just the social media ones - I will make myself extra lame and say I look at my Weather Channel app everyday.. =/
  8. Which is better: Full House, Saved By The Bell, or Boy Meets World? Saved by the Bell all the way - Zack was a hottie back in the day, Slater wasn't bad but that mullet had to go!
  9. What kind of scent do you like to burn in your house? (Floral, Baking, etc.) Fall scents - pumpkin, apple spice, oatmeal cookie - I burn them year round, makes the house feel cozy =)
  10. In your opinion who’s hotter: John Slattery (yummy), Vince Vaugh (adorable) or Matthew McConaughey circa 2003 (I die)?  Ha ha, I had to google John Slattery ... if I had to pick between these guys I would say Vince Vaughn ... He is hilarious and being funny is pretty freakin' sexy in my book.
Ok - so pretty much everyone and their mom has gotten this award at this point, there is only one blog I read religiously that I haven't noticed awarded yet and that is Veronica @ V Watts' Thoughts - this girl is definitely an encouraging soul that I love getting advice from.

Veronica I'm nominating you, if you want to participate please answer the same 10 questions I answered =)

Thanks again Erin!! This was fun =)

Let Your Past Make You Better, Not Bitter

I haven't blogged much lately and mainly it's because I have kind of been in a "dark place" lately. I'm just not happy with myself right now and some things that are going on with my life so I've been a bit of a downer.

Even though I haven't been blogging, I have still been reading and commenting from time to time. I love reading blogs to get ideas, to see how others are doing and to just escape from my life for a little while and look in on someone else's. Most of the time you get some good recipe ideas or maybe a craft idea for the home but everyone once in a while a post comes along that slaps you right in the face and is exactly what you need to hear. I like to think that God has his hand in some of those occasions and today I think he was lookin' out for me!

I'm sure most if not all of the people who read my blog know of Mama Laughlin - who doesn't really?? She is a funny, outgoing, she kicked weight loss' ass and she keeps it real. Today she got serious and said some things I really needed to here - if you are struggling with weight loss then go check out her post today.

What she said rang so true to how I have been feeling lately. I have been bitter. I have been angry. I have been a hard person to be around. It is no one else's fault but my own.

I am angry at the person I have become. When I look in the mirror I don't even know who I am looking at any more. Being angry doesn't solve anything though, it just makes me a bad version of myself. I have to accept what I have done to my body and I have to move on. I have two choices. I can change the way I live and make improvements towards living a healthier, happier life. Or I can stay the same, do the same things and continue to be miserable.

Right after I read Brandy's email a co-worker handed me a story she had been given through email of a friend she went to college with that is dying of cancer. The story spoke about how they had Christmas in August because she will not be here in December and how they are celebrating her daughter's 8th birthday this weekend because Mom won't be here in February for her birthday.  She made a video for her daughter giving her advice and telling her how much she loved her and different things she wanted to say to her that she won't be able to say in the future. At the end one of the guys videoing said - What do you want Abby to know about being a mom. She replied - Keep your cool, it will be tough, it will get hard but always keep your cool. I have snapped at you and taken out my anger for this disease on you and you did not deserve that. So remember no matter how hard being a parent gets - always keep your cool!

After reading that tears starting flowing down my cheeks while I was sitting at my desk. I have been losing my cool a lot lately with my boys because I am just in a miserable place and a lot of it has to do with how I feel in this body that I now have. I feel tired, I feel weak, I feel gross, I feel unacceptable - and I have been taking those feelings out on my family and they don't deserve that! I am lucky to not have any disease or sickness that is going to take my life - I know tomorrow is never promised but I know there is no disease taking my life at this moment in time. I need to accept who I am now in this very moment and live my life to the fullest and be a person people want to be around.

It is time to accept it, deal with it and move on. Life is too short to live it being angry.

5 on Friiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiday!! =)

That's right, it's Friday and I couldn't be happier bout that!! No particular reason, I am just ready for the freakin' weekend.

Linking up today with Darci for the 5 on Friday....

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Number ONE:

I did get up at 4:00 am yesterday to work out - I did some treadmill for warm-up then did a Jackie Warner strength training work-out from her book This Is Why You're Fat . I think her and Jillian are sisters because they both like to hurt people through exercise! OMG I can hardly get up from my seat today. I'm sure it doesn't help that I am EXTREMELY out of shape and haven't worked out in ... ummm... forever. It's a "good hurt" - whatever the hell that means, I mean really, is any hurt good??

Number TWO:

The Hubs and I get to have a date night on Saturday - we are gettin' all wild and crazy and going to dinner and movie! Holla!! ... Seriously though I am just glad to get out of the house for a bit, I will take what I can get!

Number THREE:

I am LOVING this song. She has a different sound and I love it!!

Number FOUR:

I am so not ready for school starting ... We already started with the homework and I didn't realize how much I loved not having it this summer. I understand he needs to do it and it's helpful - but Layton isn't one of those kids who learns quickly - so it's a lot of redundancy and it's gets old for all of us real quick. I will learn to appreciate summer break more next year!! ha ha.

Number FIVE:

My mother-in-law sent me a scentsy night light (the one without the butterflies) for my birthday along with the oatmeal cookie scent and I am LOVING it!! Makes my house smell like Fall and that's my favorite place to be =) ... I'm really super bumbed that its going to be so friggin hot next week. Mother Nature was just effin' with us the last few weeks with that AHHHHHHMAZing weather. Bitch!

Ok y'all have a great weekend!

Not So Little Any More....

Today is one of those proud Mommy posts - so if you don't like those, sorry I'm not sorry.

Today my BIG boy is 7 years old!! I can hardly believe it.  When people tell you that your kids will grow up fast, they aren't "pulling your leg" - that's real life yo!

Layton was born on August 22, 2006 @ 3:00 pm - emergency C-section because my blood pressure spiked. He was going to be a C-section anyways because he was breech - later we found out his head was literally stuck in my ribs, they had to push on my rib cage to get him out! Big head, just like his daddy - ha ha.

I ALWAYS wanted to be a mom. When I was younger, if there was a baby in the room I was glued to it and wanted to hold it. I babysat all the time, I just loved being around little kids. I remember the overwhelming joy I felt when I saw Layton for the first time and knew he was mine and that I got to keep him forever and ever. I have enjoyed every minute of watching him grow and learn - and become a goofball, just like his momma =) ... Everyone says he looks just like me and I secretly love that =)

So here are a bunch of pictures of my favorite 7 year old =) - HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUDDY!! I love you to the moon and back!!!

Firsts

It's Friiiiiiiiiiiday!! =) Yay! This has been a long week even though it was a short work week for me. We have zero plans this weekend and I couldn't be happier about it. We will do something but at least we don't HAVE to be anywhere - just go with the flow =)

So I am stealing this post idea from Jenna @ Jenna Rae Everyday it was fun reading all her "firsts", so I thought I would share mine with y'all =) Go check out Jenna's too, fun stuff!

First thing you do when you wake up in the morning:
Pee - ha ha ... if I am being honest and giving TMI, that is always the first thing I do when my feet hit the ground in the AM.

First thing you reach for when you open the fridge:
My breakfast/lunch that I get ready the night before. I don't eat breakfast until I get to work, so I don't eat or drink anything until I get here.

First thing you do when you get home from work:
Start dinner - like ASAP!! The husband and the kids are like little piranhas looking for food and if I don't get it done fast enough they will start snacking and then not want to eat what I cook ... I need to find some good casserole recipes, so all I have to do is warm it up!

First car:
Chevy Nova - I hated that thing with a passion. I saved up and paid my parents $500 for it.  Back in my day, parents didn't just give you thing, you earned them! (ha ha, I'm old!!) ... Anyways, it was a P.O. S. - I couldn't stop at a stop light too long or else the car would die, so there was a lot of speeding up when I saw Yellows and then just pure embarrassment when it died in the middle of intersections.  The thing ended up dying one day on the middle of the highway! I was able to "coast" over to the side - but there was no bringing it back - $500 down the toilet!
This isn't my car but mine looked exactly like this.
First accident:
I was driving down a 4 lane road - 2 lanes going each way... I was in the far right and the lane next to me was backed up (rush hour) - I was going along minding my business when a Navigator turns in front of me - I guess the people in the other lane were being nice and letting them through but didn't bother to look if someone was coming in my lane. I slammed into her and almost totaled my little baby Hyundai Accent - scared the shit out of me! I was shaking so bad, it was a teenage snotty girl who got on her cell phone and told her parents I was speeding down the road so fast and hit her - UMMMM no! Your dumbass pulled out in front of me and I had no other choice but to hit your BIG ASS vehicle (I'm not bitter at all) ... I think I put a scratch on her SUV while my car was barely drivable ... anyways, it was so no fun.

First thing you wanted to be when you grew up:
A Veterinarian - I worked at a vet office while I was in high school and I loved every minute of it - I wanted to be a vet tech so bad but the vet techs I worked with told me not to do it - they said it was a lot of schooling and not enough pay, unless I was going to become a full on veterinarian it wasn't worth my time - I wish I would have just gone with my gut and done it, at least I would enjoy my job!!

First choice beverage:
I'm pretty sure if you cut me open, diet coke would pour out ... it's bad!

First choice breakfast:
Yogurt Parfait, I make myself.  Non-Fat Vanilla Greek Yogurt, strawberries & granola. I eat this everyday and I never get sick of it =)

Not mine, but this is what it looks like =)
First choice dessert:
Warm Molten Chocolate Cake with Cold Vanilla Icecream

Come to Momma!!

First song that comes to mind:

Lorde - Royals  - I am LOVING this song, can't get enough!

First major purchase:
This is so dumb but when the husband and I first got together we got a crappy hand-me-down vacuum that smelled like wet dogs when we used it - we ended up getting a cat and a dog so the husband talked me into buying a Dyson vacuum - we lived in a one bedroom cracker jack box apartment but we had a $500 vacuum so that bish was clean!! ha ha ... We still have it to this day and it still works great - 12 years later!

First job:
My very first job was working at Hardees - it was so nasty! I hated it and only lasted about 3 months before I got a job at Walgreens and loved it!
Gag a friggin maggot!!!
First time you flew on a plane:
I was 16 and I went to Florida with my aunt and grandma - I was scared, but quickly found out it really wasn't that big of a deal. I still don't love to fly but I'm not terrified or anything, I just get really antsy and ready to get off that thing about an hour in, not sure if I could do an international flight.

OK - hope you all have a GREAT weekend!! The weather is supposed to be amazing - we have our windows open and attic fan on and that makes me happy!! =) Love this fall-like weather we got going on =)
